Can I carry luggage and if yes, how?
You can mount many different luggage systems on a BERNDS frame. BERNDS provides the following solutions:
- rigid front luggage racks: All frames have a robust standard bracket for rigid front luggage carriers which is considerably safer than carriers fixed to the handlebars.
- "Brompton" front carrier block: there are plenty of good-quality bags available to fit this; the maximum weight is around 10 kg.
- Klickfix front carrier: for bags and baskets with the well-known Klickfix system by the Rixen und Kaul company; up to a weight of approx. 7 kg.
- Klickfix rear luggage carrier: mounted on the seat tube, bags up to a weight of about 10 kg can be attached.
- Lowrider: on our BERNDS Lowrider, all commonly-available bags find a safe place. Suitable for weights up to approx. 15 kg.
- Rear-wheel rack with rollers (not suitable for panniers); on this luggage rack 15 kg may be carried.
- We are working on a rear-wheel rack suitable for panniers. BERNDS bikes are also suitable for pulling trailers; particularly suited, in the opinion of many of our customers! A trailer yoked to a BERNDS, be it a BERNDS folding bike or a tandem, is particularly compact and consequently is easier to steer than a conventional bike and trailer.
